CATS

Cats....yes the subject of many discussions and shares. Rough play sessions, a few scratches (me not my cat), some cuddles and many sleepless nights, affection and simple joys all emanate from this tiny lion that lives in my house.. and my heart. I had just gone through a rather rough week where my six toed cat "Blackberry" decided jumping off of the tall dresser in my bedroom was a new effective way to wake me up for a top off of his cat food bowl..landing on my chest while sound asleep..his usual pouncing on my computer keyboard was no longer effective as I rectified that with hiding my keyboard before bedtime.
Following the rough week of sleep from my nocturnal actively persistent cat I was feeling a bit of
anger. Not out of reason, but it inspired a sculpture. Always wanting an Orange cat, I began sculpting this beast caught in the middle of a good grooming. His face reflecting back to me my thorough annoyance with him that week.
The study of a cat's bone structure, muscle and positioning proved more challenging that I had initially thought. A subject that I would like to explore further. Trying new poses and an inspiration to create a series of cats from the Hemingway house in Key West, Florida.
I hope you enjoy my "Cat"... and keep checking in for new cats as I work towards the series.
Happy Days to You!
